Hey guys, just wanted to announce that I'm not going to have the time to run a second session. I would love it if someone else would like to DM and I would love to be a player in someone else's session. If you think your up for the task i'd be excited to take part
You've really got to fix your webcam though. You've got the contrast so messed up that it looks like you're broadcasting from the past compared to everyone else. ;))
I told you the reason why it is that way. The contrast, brightness and gain are all higher because there is only one, dim light in my room. You'd hardly see me if I didn't turn them up
...and you can get your damn pop filter out of your face :-@
Scratch friday, looks like we're going to be doing a double feature. Might do monday or tuesday, we're figuring that out now. Still on for Weds as well.
"That's it. I'm sick of all this "Masterwork Bastard Sword" bullshit that's going on in the d20 system right now. Katanas deserve much better than that. Much, much better than that. I should know what I'm talking about. I myself commissioned a genuine katana in Japan for 2,400,000 Yen (that's about $20,000) and have been practicing with it for almost 2 years now. I can even cut slabs of solid steel with my katana.
Japanese smiths spend years working on a single katana and fold it up to a million times to produce the finest blades known to mankind.
Katanas are thrice as sharp as European swords and thrice as hard for that matter too. Anything a longsword can cut through, a katana can cut through better. I'm pretty sure a katana could easily bisect a knight wearing full plate with a simple vertical slash.
Ever wonder why medieval Europe never bothered conquering Japan? That's right, they were too scared to fight the disciplined Samurai and their katanas of destruction. Even in World War II, American soldiers targeted the men with the katanas first because their killing power was feared and respected.
So what am I saying? Katanas are simply the best sword that the world has ever seen, and thus, require better stats in the d20 system. Here is the stat block I propose for Katanas:
(One-Handed Exotic Weapon) 1d12 Damage 19-20 x4 Crit +2 to hit and damage Counts as Masterwork
(Two-Handed Exotic Weapon) 2d10 Damage 17-20 x4 Crit +5 to hit and damage Counts as Masterwork
Now that seems a lot more representative of the cutting power of Katanas in real life, don't you think?
tl;dr = Katanas need to do more damage in d20, see my new stat block
In the consideration to transition to the yogzula art style, so that I may easily create characters of imagination instead of having to work with found material, I have created big nose.
Also created a generic "use this for every unimportant NPC" character model. Gonna have to make one of those for monsters as well. Working on Donkor now. I want to do Plup next I think, I forgot about him. He's probably the most unique character whos artwork fails to represent him very well.
Monster AC is always visible. Monster HP becomes visible after it is reduced to 50% and noticeably fatigued. At or below 25% the monster is in a fatigued mode where it can't defend itself as well. Players can narrate special actions such as cutting off limbs, sticking a dagger through the monster's eye, slicing at its ankles to make it drop prone, impaling it through the chest with a spear, etc. This is all critical damage. A lot of liberties are awarded to the player during this phase in terms of how it is able to do damage.
Benefits of this system: When a player lands a hit, they will know it to be a hit. They can immediately narrate it relative to the monsters HP instead of having to wait for the DM to give them permission. When a player kills a creature or is about to kill a creature, they can also narrate it as they see fit when they land the killing blow. Speeds combat up and gives more agency to the players by giving them enough knowledge to play the game on their turn without having to wait for the DM to play referee.

Whatever, nerd.
a sword master would not spend so much time showing off, he would strike swiftly and precisely before anyone had time to draw their weapon
But also, you are right. Katanas are the best swords.
I'm also a big fan or Filipino swords too.

half-elf is basically human
two 1s in the same roll is a super crit failure
two 20s is a super crit success
these outcomes will have tremendous results, if my math is correct, the chance of it happening is only 0.0025%
